sterling silver
These earrings were hand-forged out of sterling silver, hammered into shapes and soldered together. Then they were filed and polished by hand and finished with a mix of high polish and soft matte finish.
Making wearable art comes out of a desire to create beautiful things and the joy of connecting with people. The artist uses quality sterling silver and is always inspired by the natural beauty, colours and textures of Beautiful British Columbia, as well as the city of Vancouver, where she lives. She is mostly attracted to symbols and simpler, geometric forms like the perfect shape of a circle that can have added beauty by being broken and formed into a new organic shape, just as it happens in nature.
Marian De Gier is an Emily Carr University of Art & Design graduate. After several different creative career pursuits, she decided trying her hand at silversmithing and is loving it. When her first chickadee left the nest, she took over the room and transformed it into a home studio. When neighbours started to want to buy her creations, she decided to give it a go and Fire & Grace Silverworks was born.
Marian has been a designer, art director and photographer at various design firms both in Vancouver, Canada and the Netherlands. Her work has been published in both countries.
Marian loves art, family, coffee, books, rainy days and learning odd and new things.
