low tarnish sterling silver, pure titanium, stainless steel, niobium ear wires
A spectacular pair of earrings, carefully shaped and carved by lasers to create the unique holes and blobs. A creative product that brings out a deeper, distinct meaning and sense.
Immersed in the breathtaking beauty and delicate ecosystems of the ocean through SCUBA diving, Sherry Cordova channels her experiences into striking jewellery that conjures vivid memories while preserving the integrity of sea life and coastal landscapes. Her contemporary art jewellery highlights the impact of human activities on our oceans. Sherry Cordova intricately deconstructs and transforms hand sketches of microscopic marine creatures into layered masterpieces. Thin layers of low tarnish sterling silver sheet and tubing are combined with thin layers of pure titanium and hypoallergenic niobium ear wires to recreate the tiny beings. Industrial stainless steel fasteners reassemble the layers of her creations, forming metallic marvels. Hand sawn or laser cut and meticulously hand finished, every work of her art is distinct and unique. Each design is a wondrous reminder to the wearer and observer that our choices resonate through all forms of life, no matter how tiny or remote.
Sherry Cordova created a design language "Marine Fauna Meets Industrial" to reduce environmental impact while harmonizing technology, elegance, functionality, and a deep reverence for even the smallest marine beings. Her journey into the world of laser-cutting thin non-ferrous metals is rooted in her M.S.E.E., BS Mathematics, and decades of metalsmithing expertise.
