acrylic, stainless steel post

The Valerie is an architectural statement piece inspired by the dramatic, faceted rooftop of the Royal Ontario Museum. Its angular geometry reflects the interplay of structure, light, and modern design. Each design begins as a hand sketch, where the sharp lines and dynamic planes are first explored on paper. These drawings are then translated into precise digital vector files using design software, allowing for exact proportions, clean angles, and structural balance. The individual components are laser cut from lightweight acrylic to achieve crisp edges and geometric clarity.

What distinguishes The Valerie is its layered construction: multiple acrylic pieces are carefully stacked and aligned to create a sculptural, double-sided form. This layering technique gives the earring depth, dimensionality, and a polished finish from every angle. The layered elements are permanently bonded and hand-assembled, ensuring durability while maintaining a lightweight feel. Stainless steel posts are attached for strength and comfortable wear. The result is a bold, wearable architectural form where art, structure, and craftsmanship intersect. Precision technology meets intentional hand assembly, creating a piece that feels both modern and timeless.

Sylvia Dief-Atallah is the founder and designer behind Ketoora, a Canadian jewellery brand celebrated for bold, architectural statement pieces. A self-taught artist, jewellery design is her second career. Sylvia previously built her entrepreneurial foundation in the food industry, where she developed a strong business acumen and creative discipline.

Inspired by art, culture, travel, and geometry, her work blends sculptural form with vibrant colour and lightweight wearability. Each design begins as a hand sketch and is refined through digital technology before being precision laser-cut and carefully assembled by hand in her studio. Her work is carried in galleries and museums across Canada and featured in juried shows nationwide.
