This piece is part of The Earring Show, an annual fundraiser for the Craft Council of BC that highlights contemporary jewellery design. The exhibition sheds light on the timeless connection between craft and culture, and how they influence each other.

sterling silver labradorite stones
Sterling silver is annealed, cleaned, textured, cut, domed, filed, sanded, holes are punched in the centre of each domed piece, then tumbled and polished. The stone is washed and polished. The stone is placed in between the two pieces of silver, centred and set on sterling headpins and added silver beads and earwires.
Laurie McDonald takes lessons, both group classes and one-on-one with her favourite goldsmithing teachers. She also learns from many online courses and by experimenting with a variety of her own designs. She has been commissioned to create a man's copper cuff and particular earring designs of her own making.
