Eri Ito is a Tokyo-born artist currently based in Vancouver. Growing up in the UK and navigating language barriers shaped her early interest in craft as a means of communication. She studied metal craft at a university in Tokyo, where she developed a practice that bridges contemporary art and wearable jewellery. Working with found materials, including glass, ceramics, and primarily natural stones, the artist explores material sensitivity and place-based narratives. Her work has been exhibited in gallery settings and specialty stores in Tokyo.
In addition to her individual practice, she collaborates with fellow artists on outdoor sculptural projects. These collaborative works were selected for exhibition at Tokiwa Park as part of the Ube Biennale in 2022.
