Small Blue & White Bubble Cups
Small Blue & White Bubble Cups
9 x 6 x 6 cm
glazed porcelain, blue inlay swirl decoration
This handbuilt porcelain cup is inspired by the patterns found in textiles and nature. The cup belongs to a series of works influenced by South Asian textiles and East Asian “Blue and White” motifs. Some of the Blue & White patterns come from discarded Indian Textile print blocks. Employed on the piece alongside patterns inspired by nature, the print block patterns give the illusion that fabric has been placed or draped over the areas they cover. This piece will make a beautiful addition to your home or would make an excellent gift.
Care Instructions: dishwasher safe.
Denise Jeffrey has worked in clay since obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1999. After serving as an apprentice to potters on the province’s south shore, she established her first studio just outside of Dartmouth, NS. Since moving to Burnaby, BC, She has been working to re-establish her studio practice. Working in clay gives Denise a sense of fulfillment. While the process and the product are important to the artist, she also enjoys the way pots connect people.
"I like how this porcelain cup fits perfectly in your hand, and the blue textile designs remind me of some Iranian motifs I'm familiar with!"
