The skills Libbie Burns learnt as a frame loom tapestry weaver and spinner led directly to a love of wet felting. Recent workshops with a number of fibre artists including Marjeolein Dallinga from Quebec and Liz Clay from the UK allowed Libbie to develop numerous techniques needed to transform two dimensional felt pieces into three dimensional wearable art.
These skills embellish traditional wet felting methods and permit a modern approach to an ancient process. Participation in natural dye workshops as a former member of the Scugog shore fibre artists guild and more recently through Maiwa has heightened Libbie’s love of colour.
