Amanda's jewellery is an expression of singularity. She uses precious and semi-precious gemstone beads, organic substances, and precious metals to fabricate unique pieces. She explores the intersection and juxtaposition of colour, shape, and texture in each design in an effort to create something truly rare and beautiful. Modern and ancient influences are pervasive in her work, and homage is paid to the raw materials that give rise to design.
Amanda Cox is the founder of Rock Candy, a luxury gemstone bead jewellery company. She designs and handcrafts singular pieces in her Vancouver studio using precious and semi-precious gemstone beads, organic substances, and precious metals. Inspired at an early age by ancient beads and art history, Amanda cultivated a broad-based knowledge of art and architecture through academia and travel. She studied Art History at Columbia University before earning her Masters in American Indian Studies at the University of Arizona, and then her law degree from the University of San Diego. Amanda returned to her passion after a successful 15-year career as a senior executive in Finance, leading global operations at such firms as JP Morgan in New York and Scotiabank in Toronto. Her business acumen, entrepreneurial nature, and passion for and knowledge of art and design serve her well in her creative endeavors. Amanda lives with her husband in Vancouver, where she continues to design and create unique and luxe gemstone bead jewellery.
