Sydney McGragh is a jeweller and metal artist who has recently become inspired to create larger sculptural pieces to represent global issues that have been repeated throughout history. After being a part of the Sterling Silversmithing Exhibition in 2025, Sydney McGragh chose to lean into sculptural work as a separate outlet for more emotional work compared to their jewellery, which is more technical and experimental.
At 18, Sydney decided to move from Hamilton, Ontario, to Fredericton, New Brunswick, to find a slower, more meaningful life. Once in New Brunswick, they found the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design and were immediately drawn into metals after slicing their finger while making a simple band ring. Since then, every new technique that interests them, they try over and over until it works. New and unusual techniques create pieces that inspire Sydney daily and push them forward to continue to learn.
