Nature's organic forms, free of straight lines, evoke a sense of wonder and awe. As this artist marks her fifth year as an immigrant in Canada, she reflects on the profound impact this country's natural beauty has had on her - both as a source of inspiration and as a therapeutic refuge. The warmth and welcoming spirit of Canada, coupled with its deep respect for nature, have played a pivotal role in shaping her artistic journey. For this year's collection, the artist draws from the stunning landscapes, diverse seasons, and rich flora of Canada. Each piece serves as a tribute to the memories and experiences of a newcomer, capturing the essence of a transforming journey through the lens of nature and human form. Using 3D printing technology, her designs honour the connection between her personal immigrant story and the vast, breathtaking beauty that surrounds her.
With a background in architecture, this designer embarked on her jewellery design journey in collaboration with her partner. Their creativity led them to become finalists in an international jewellery design competition in London, which ultimately paved the way for the launch of Porul - a pioneering 3D printing-based jewellery brand from their hometown of Chennai, India. Their competition-winning design was later chosen by a stylist and worn by an actress at the 2016 BAFTA Awards.Drawing inspiration from the beauty of nature and the forms of human life, her work continues to evolve. Currently, the rich multicultural art scene in Canada, combined with the profound influence of nature, serves as her primary source of inspiration in her design process.
