Growing up in northern British Columbia, Brooklyn Jade Soucie draws inspiration from her early experiences along the Pacific coast and time spent in her family's construction yard. Surrounded by mountains at the end of the Portland Canal, her work reflects a deep connection to nature and an enduring fascination with her environment. As a child, she spent countless hours on the water with her father and grandfather, mesmerized by the rhythm of the tides, or hammering nails into a 2x4 simply for the joy of it. These formative experiences now shape her creative practice, where themes of industry and nature converge. Her latest exhibition, Tides of Metal, explores the tension and harmony between organic and industrial forms. Incorporating steel, nuts, and nails, she contrasts rigid, mechanical elements with fluid, wave-like motifs using techniques such as micro welding, wax carving, and stone setting. Through this work, Soucie reflects both her upbringing and her artistic inquiry into the intersections of natural and built environments.

Brooklyn Jade Soucie (b. 1999) is a Canadian artist who was raised amidst the rugged beauty of the forest and ocean in Stewart, British Columbia. She spent much of her childhood fishing and exploring the Pacific coast, two experiences that continue to shape her artistic practice. Growing up around her family's construction yard, she developed a fascination with industrial materials, which, combined with her passion for silversmithing, translates into contemporary, wearable art. After studying painting for four years in her home province, Soucie transferred to NSCAD University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to pursue jewellery. She is set to graduate in the Spring of 2025 with a BFA in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing. In the Fall of 2024, Soucie was selected to exhibit at NYC Jewellery Week with the Magpie Jewellery Collective. She also recently held her solo exhibition, Tides of Metal, at the Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax, NS. The show featured the culmination of her studies at NSCAD, including pieces from her Flow and Nailed collections, marking an exciting milestone in her emerging career.
