sea glass, gold filled round wire, gold solder
The shape of the sea glass is created in wire then a link is made for the ear wire and the claws are cut and filed. All pieces are soldered together at once to create the prong setting. Ends are trimmed and filed. Ear wires and dangles are created by balling up the end of the wire with a torch and added after setting the glass; Embracing imperfection.
Accepting that which may not live up to standards that have been set by others and instead celebrating the beauty within.
Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken objects with gold is a metaphor for embracing flaws and imperfections. The artist has used gold filled bezel wire and round wire to wrap less than perfect sea glass in gold there by embracing it?s rough angles and accentuating the beauty of its individual colour and pattern.
