Afsoon Jafari explores the intersection of personal narratives, emotional depth, and structural complexity in her jewellery designs. Her work is influenced by themes of resilience, transformation, and the unseen connections that shape human experiences. Each piece is a reflection of internal struggles and self-discovery, utilizing intricate knotwork, organic curves, and architectural elements to convey layered emotions. For her latest work, Afsoon employs 3D printing technology using Nylon PA12, a material known for its strength, flexibility, and lightweight properties. This advanced technique allows her to create intricate, sculptural forms that would be challenging to achieve with traditional metalwork. The porous yet durable nature of Nylon PA12 enhances the tactile experience of the design, giving it a contemporary and ethereal quality. The submitted piece, Knots of the Soul, symbolizes the emotional and psychological entanglements individuals navigate throughout life. The knot, a recurring motif in her work, represents internal conflicts, resilience, and the continuous process of unraveling and redefining oneself. The soft blue hue enhances the introspective nature of the design, while the open structure allows light to pass through, emphasizing the fluidity of growth and transformation. Afsoon's approach merges digital innovation with artistic craftsmanship, pushing the boundaries of contemporary jewellery. By utilizing 3D printing, she reimagines traditional forms in a modern context, creating wearable sculptures that resonate with both personal and universal themes. Currently based in Canada, Afsoon continues to experiment with materials and techniques, exploring how technology can expand the language of jewellery design while maintaining a deep connection to emotion and storytelling.
