Grass House represents a dwelling from the past. Constructing a home from materials like a bird’s nest, the fragility of this house and its materials meditates on the nature of shelter. In it we see the commonalities between humans and birds as we create safe space for everyday moments including sleep, birth, child rearing, and even death.

This piece has been exhibited in a number of exhibitions including those at the Multitudes 180 Projects Gallery in Sault Ste. Marie, ON, the CityScape Community Arts Space in North Vancouver, BC, and the Community Office Gallery (MLA Janet Routledge) in Burnaby, BC.

Care Instructions: Do not hang in direct sunlight. Remove dust with soft, dry brush or brush vacuum attachment.

Jennie grew up in rural Quebec and has a Fine Arts Degree from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. On the journey to find her artistic voice she began combining traditional craft techniques like embroidery and quilting with painting and fabric design. Her work has been displayed in solo and group exhibits in British Columbia, Ontario, the U.S, and Italy. She also contributes to social activist art projects from all over the world including Australia and Mexico. Jennie has also worked with community members through artist residencies to expand her knowledge about quilting, textiles and sewing.
