This piece is part of The Earring Show, an annual fundraiser for the Craft Council of BC that highlights contemporary jewellery design. The exhibition sheds light on the timeless connection between craft and culture, and how they influence each other.

This earring set is crafted using miniature sculpture techniques. Each piece is carefully shaped by hand, followed by the application of glaze painting to ensure vibrant and detailed designs. The piece then undergoes extensive kiln firing processes to achieve durability and a polished finish.

 

Ivan Li is a Hong Kong-born multidisciplinary artist living in Vancouver.

As an established filmmaker, Li has directed and produced several animated shorts, with his work being selected for over 30 OSCAR-qualifying films and festivals.

As an experienced visual effects artist, Li contributed to multiple high-profile cinematic and episodic post-production projects.

Li began exploring ceramics and crafts during a period of industry downtime. He is actively pushing the boundaries of ceramics by blending elements of craft, jewellery, and wearable art. His works have been showcased by prominent online jewellery collectives such as @fancythisrings and @jewellery_for_my_soul, and have also been featured in the Vienna-based publication Not Only Decoration.
