fine and sterling silver, vitreous enamel
Each of the submitted pieces juxtaposes uniformity with the irregularity of softly rounded curves and indentations. Inspiration is drawn from mother nature and the balance of her vicious yet deliberate lifecycles. Regardless of the enamel technique employed, the choice of richly saturated colours combined with layers of texture recontextualizes everyday forms with unexpected results.
Porsha Troost is an emerging enamel jewellery artist and honours graduate of the Jewellery Arts advanced diploma program at George Brown College in Toronto. She is currently pursing graduate gemmology certification through GIA. As an avid gardener, she draws much inspiration from the beauty, frailty and transient nature of plants. Through a combination of enamel, alternative metals and mokume gane, her work captures organic forms by using rich colouration to evoke a sense of enchantment, nostalgia and whimsy. Porsha has been awarded the Dean's Medal (2019/2020) and Pierres des Charme awards (2021/2022) from George Brown College and participated in group exhibitions in Toronto, Halifax, New York, Baltimore, Vancouver and Quebec City.
