CM Schneider blends traditional techniques and modern technology to bring each piece into existence with a focus on sentiment and meaning. Throughout his work are nods to memories and experiences not his own. Art, for him, is the practice of bringing meaning into the physical. In cast bronze, he evokes a popular decor of the past, the brass sunfaces seen along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Nested on these shining faces are handwrought sterling barnacles, a sight familiar to many a beachgoer. The merging of these two different techniques and motifs symbolizes the checkered past of those shores and how we cling to it, like barnacles, unable to move on from our past.

CM Schneider has been a professional jeweller and jewellery designer for over a decade. He graduated from the Texas Institute of Jewellery Technology in 2014 and has worked in the field ever since, creating bold, beautiful, and meaningful jewellery for people of all backgrounds and styles. While he is new to competing in art, he is no stranger to the work art demands.
