vitreous enamel, sterling silver, copper, found rusted steel, turquoise and resin.
These silver and copper earrings explore the beauty of decay and transformation, inspired by the rich textures and organic patterns of rusted found objects. Using TIG welding and vitreous enamel, the pieces capture the contrast between strength and erosion, permanence and change. The interplay of metal and enamel reflects the delicate balance between nature's relentless forces and human craftsmanship, creating a wearable study of time's imprint on materials.
For over fifteen years, Suzanne Spisani has owned and operated a jewellery shop, specializing in ready-made and custom jewellery, as well as repairs. More recently, she opened a quaint 98 sq. ft. studio and showroom in historic downtown Windsor, NS, where she continues to offer a variety of services centered around unique design and quality artistry. With a sculptural approach, Spisani's work combines traditional goldsmithing techniques with modern technology such as microscopic stone-setting and TIG welding. Each piece is a result of creative exploration within the materials, inspired by the human experience, emotions, and patterns found in nature. Over the years she has honed her craft creating handcrafted gold and silver jewellery that often incorporates unique processes and precious gemstones. In the winter of 2023, Suzanne relocated to Nova Scotia where she has been continuing her education at NSCAD while immersing herself in the local art community. Suzanne previously graduated with honours from the Studio Jewellery and Small Object Design program at the Kootenay School of the Arts in Nelson, BC. Her education also includes various courses from the Alberta College of Art and Design, a Diamond Essentials certificate from the Gemological Institute of America, and a stone-setting certificate from Blain Lewis' New Approach School for Jewellers in Tennessee, USA.
