recycled sterling silver, recycled plastic
Claude's work questions the ecological impact of the various facets of the jewellery world. It's a concern that has been with her since the beginning of her career. It is through the exploration of recycled materials, such as recycled plastic and sterling silver, and the learning of new techniques that she fulfills her enjoyment of research and the discovery of new spatial forms. Through the interplay of these elements, she blurs the line between jewellery and sculpture, and between materials destined to be thrown away and precious metals.
A native of Montreal, Claude Larivée is attached to this culturally rich city. Interested in art, she completed a DEC in Visual Arts in 2020 at Cégep du Vieux Montréal. After a period of reflection and questioning, she felt the need to work with the material. Claude enrolled in a DEC in Jewellery Design in 2022. It was through her courses that she realized her love for research and the exploration of new forms and materials. She was awarded the prize for excellence in research and design development in her 2nd year.
