sterling silver
The earring "Behind the Masks" is made of sterling silver and consists of two diamond-shaped elements that resemble a mask. When opened, the upper part reveals what lies beneath the masks we create to present ourselves to the world: hidden depths, pain, our broken parts, unspoken words, endured and unprocessed violence, unglued shards, and unhealed cracks. The second element of the earring is a clear plate that hides these imperfections. The two elements are connected by a rivet, allowing movement while enabling the wearer to conceal the imperfect side, displaying only one: the flawless facade. The choice of how to wear it belongs to the owner of the piece - the only one who truly knows when, where, and to whom to reveal or conceal its hidden side.
Isis is a Brazilian artist based in Vancouver. She earned a bachelor's degree in law, but later realized that her true path was in the arts. She then studied classical singing, and after the pandemic, she attended a trial class to make a silver ring. The moment she lit the torch and crafted her very first silver ring, her eyes sparkled - she knew she had found what she had been searching for. By the end of 2022, Isis participated in the "Use Your Fear" exhibition, a contemporary jewellery competition and exhibition at the school where she was taking jewellery classes as a hobby, ESPMix. She was awarded a prize in the popular choice category, marking the first step toward establishing her home studio. After moving to Vancouver, she started her own jewellery business and decided to deepen her knowledge by enrolling in the jewellery program at VCC. She is currently completing the first year of the program. As a jeweller, her goal is to empower people, giving them more freedom to express themselves in the world. Being able to work with her creativity and her own hands to bring these ideas to life is a blessing. The ability to materialize an idea is something truly special to her.
