925 sterling silver and copper
I used traditional metal smithing techniques including alloying my own sterling silver, soldering, cutting and filing, and rivets. On the copper I used the Japanese red heat patina called Hido. The Hido technique involves heating the copper to red hot then immediately plunging it into a boiling borax and water solution. This produces the red patina.
Be There Or Be Square: a work inspired by Natalie's attraction to right angles, color and modern design. These earrings are crafted in Sterling Silver and Copper using the following techniques: Alloying her own Sterling Silver, soldering, cutting and filing and the use of rivets to attach the silver to the copper. The copper was given the red patina through the Japanese Hido technique. This involves heating the copper to red hot and then plunging it into a boiling borax and water solution.
