rose bronze, gold ear wires
These sweet earrings are hand-cast in solid rose bronze from Great Slave Lake freshwater shells. "Tucho" is the Dene word for Great Slave Lake and this series engages with April's experiences on the shores of Tucho crafting jewellery from the offerings the lake gives in the form of stones, vertebrae, driftwood, bark, and occasionally glass.
April Glaicar is a northern photographer and mixed media artist who was born, raised and continues to live in Hay River, Northwest Territories, Canada. Her work has a strong connection to the circumpolar world and arctic conservation while respecting traditional knowledge and culture.
