Jewelry has always held a certain fascination for Serena Bartok, as each piece tells a story. It is these stories held within the heart of each piece that draws Serena toward creating unique jewelry. Her first explorations into jewelry design began in high school, when she and her grandmother scoured second hand shops, early morning garage sales and flea markets hunting for beads and baubles that inspired her. From old, forgotten stories, a new story was born as each piece found new life in her creative hands. The need to expand her skills brought her to her first metals class in 2007. She loved the possibilities this added to design choices, along with being able to create completely new pieces from scratch rather than assembling things together. A few night classes lead to enrolling full-time in VCC Jewelry Art and Design program, graduating in 2017 with awards in both first and second year. Serena is currently creating art jewelry, limited production lines and teaching metalsmithing classes.
