Don't submerge a cold vase in hot water. If dusty, wipe with a damp cloth. Be careful if there is texture on the piece, as it can catch on a duster.

This sweet round vase is crafted with the naked raku method, where the pots are coated in a thick slip, fired in a special raku kiln, removed when they reach the top temperature and placed in a lidded bin filled with combustibles. As the bin fills with smoke the slip cracks, letting some smoke onto the surface of the pot and resisting it in others. After cooling, the remaining slip is removed, leaving an organic pattern of smoke lines. It is a labour intensive process that creates something unique each time!

Coralie Triance has been working with clay in the early 1970s.
