Merino Scarf #24
196 x 27cm
merino wool fibres, nuno felted on hand dyed silk fabric with tapestry yarn
A beautiful scarf made from merino wool fibres, nuno felted onto hand-dyed silk fabric, adorned with intricate tapestry yarn details. Cozy and colourful, perfect for colder days.
The skills Libbie Burns learnt as a frame loom tapestry weaver and spinner lead directly to a love of wet felting. Recent workshops with a number of fibre artists including Marjolein Dallinga from Quebec and Liz Clay from the UK have allowed Libbie to develop the numerous techniques needed to transform two-dimensional felt pieces into three-dimensional wearable art. These skills embellish traditional wet felting methods and permit a modern approach to an ancient process. Participation in natural dye workshops as a former member of the Scugog Shores Fibre Artists Guild, and more recently through Maiwa, has heightened Libbie's love of colour.
