300# watercolour paper, acrylic paint, acrylic marker, gloss medium, nickel-free wire, semi-precious beads
These light weight “Wearable Art” earrings are made from original Mixed Media Abstract studies on heavy watercolour paper, sealed with gloss medium and embellished with wire-wrapped semi-precious beads.
Barb started her painting career with watercolour in 2013 using a representational style. She took many art classes and workshops, submitting her first paintings to a student art show--where she sold all 11 pieces! It wasn't long before she joined an art collective and submitted work to art exhibitions, including a solo art show in 2019.
She switched to mixed media abstract in 2020 when she enrolled in a 12 week online art course called the Creative Visionary Program headed by artist and founder of Art2Life, Nicholas Wilton. This newfound way of making art allowed Barb more freedom to paint more intuitively, this was "the most fun [she's] had making art in years!".
Barb continues to explore acrylic and mixed media in an abstracted style and has just had her first solo art show called "The Turning Point--One Artist's Journey", depicting a body of work completed from March of 2020 to the end of 2021.
