Maple Jewellery Box #13/15
5 inch height, diameter approximately 4.25 inches.
Figured maple body, Maple Burl lid. Natural finial colour.
This exquisite hand turned jewellery box is one of only 15 made exclusively for the Craft Council of BC. The boxes feature a beautiful, functional form and are finished in walnut oil. This piece is numbered and branded by the artist.
A retired Civil Engineer, Michael has, since 2005, been designing and making turned wood items in Chilliwack. His creations are intended to be both useful and pleasing to the eye. Accordingly he follows the principle that to be useful, form should follow func¬tion and to be aesthetic, forms should flow. Michael strives to embody these aspects using various woods whose grain patterns, textures and colours all have a part to play for any particular item. He is an active member of the Fraser Val¬ley Woodturners Guild and has participated in various exhibitions and demos, working on his lathe for all to see.
