genuine leather, 0.925 sterling ear wires and jump rings, acrylic paint, glue, edge coat, hand cut, glued and painted, mandana

Ada and Maua asymmetrical statement earrings are from Illa's Safari Collection inspired by the plains of Africa. A bolder more structured collection, the Safari Collection includes rich vibrant colours, shine, texture, grounding black and animal print. Earrings are made with leather and silver lending way to Illa's fundamental pairing of nature and luxury.

These one-of-a-kind pieces are meant to provoke intrigue about non-traditional earring aesthetics with their asymmetrical designs and unique use of materials. The avante garde wearable art pieces are all hand cut, glued, sanded, painted and molded with the utmost attention to design and craftsmanship. The asymmetrical series of earrings explore the contrast between hard and soft, light and heavy while maintaining balance.

The leather for each piece is carefully cut, fused with one another and sanded around the edges before finishing with paint so that both the back and front of the earrings have a quality finish. Earrings Mandana, utilizes some leather that is left in its natural state on the back to reflect hard and soft with an elegant refined aesthetic. Earrings Maua explores the concept further with a large heavy flower contrasted with the tiniest garden snake.

In the case of earrings Ada, hard and soft are explored to its furthest most unconventional degree. The compilation of squares attached with jump rings gives one earring a hard heavy appearance yet it falls softly and delicately hugs the neck. Its contrasted earring is small, made from a very light soft leather allowing for the most amount of lightness as it winds and falls in no particular direction. An overall balance in achieved to the pair as the bright bold neon yellow earring, though small in proportion, call just as loudly due to its bold colouring as its weighted eye catching but cool tempered counterpart.
