Mortise and tenon joinery, with a splined tenon in the hand carved seat. Complete with an Inlaid foot rest.
These stools started as a commission for an active outdoorsy family, it was important to me to design stools to be sophisticated and comfortable.
The stools have an Inlaid footrest, and spline through tenon on the seat. The entire seat top and bottom is curved with a very large chamfer on the underside of the seat to lighten the look.
For the Granville Island edition, I wanted to add a level of sophistication; You will see one stool is made of a Broad Leaf Maple burl for the seat top with very unique colouring, including the inlay. The legs are Canadian black walnut.
The second stool top and inlay is Wenge, with a riff sawn maple frame.
