gold filled 14k, ethically sourced silk cocoons, resin, glass, gold leaf 24k, acrylic colors
This pair is entirely fabricated. I've explored a new way to blend silk cocoons with gold-filled wire and glass. My method involves a careful process where glass is embedded inside each silk cocoon; in order to catch and reflect light beautifully with every movement. The earrings that are surprisingly lightweight and far from fragile; These earrings are part of the Metamorph Collection, a homage to the natural process of transformation, embodying the delicate power that drives change. Central to this collection is the uniqueness of each silk cocoon, where every piece tells a story of transition and growth. Vicky's approach goes beyond mere aesthetics, it's an exploration of materials and techniques aimed at breathing life into her visions, resulting in wearable pieces of art that are as distinctive as they are beautiful.
This collection challenges traditional views on what is considered precious. Vicky turns humble materials into coveted treasures, showcasing her belief that beauty and value can be found in the most unexpected places. The term 'metamorphosis,' with its Greek roots 'meta', change; and 'morphosis', form; perfectly encapsulates the essence of this collection celebrating the beauty of change and the artistry in transformation.
Incorporating elements that challenge the conventional perception of preciousness, Vicky's creations are a testament to her innovative spirit and dedication to craftsmanship. By reimagining everyday materials through her art, she invites us to see the world differently, appreciating the hidden beauty and potential in all forms of matter.
Through this collection Vicky invites wearers to reflect on their own paths of change and growth, offering them a piece of jewelry that is not just an accessory but a symbol of personal evolution.
