Sterling Silver, Copper, Vitreous Enamel
Softly convex domes hanging from handmade sterling silver ear-wires resemble cratered planets. The organic enamel patterns are reminiscent of galaxy formations speckled with negative space, no two spots exactly alike. Earrings included in this limited series result from the artists recent explorations of enamel techniques on copper. Transparent crackle enamel was used in tandem with opaque colours, creating unique surface patterns and showing hints of bright copper underneath. The making process contains an element of surprise due to the nature of crackle enamel, which can be unpredictable and react with each colour differently when fired. An etching technique was applied to the back of each earring disc to produce a muted velvety surface.
