Kirsten Churinoff has been involved in needlework since the age of five when she embroidered her first iron-on transfer of a butterfly. She holds a diploma of Textile Art from Capilano College in North Vancouver; received the Visual Arts Development Award in 2006; and has written for publications such as Quilting Arts Magazine. Kirsten has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions in the Greater Vancouver area, which has resulted in pieces travelling to private collections around the world. Currently, her interests revolve around design, research and writing. Kirsten’s fibre art techniques span the “Art Quilt” realm and include hand stitching, raw-edge appliqué and free-motion machine embroidery. Having a comprehensive grasp of techniques is important for her work and has propelled the development of her unique style of illustrative expression.
