Brass and Steel Wire
Promoting encounters through experimentation is what guides Mayumi Okuyama's work. The investigation of materials is the starting point for her research, from which forms and spaces arise and create poetry that permeates the material.
Panapaná is the word from the Tupi language, spoken by native Brazilians, that refers to a kaleidoscope of butterflies. This collective fills the air with a lightness that almost materialises what is about to happen. Air earrings are part of this series where simple, pure lines aim to translate this latency and desire to achieve what the eyes cannot see. Brass tubings start the movements, completed by steel wire.
Pause earrings are a call for a moment of respite. The silver curves are interrupted by a small diamond reminding us that every pause can be the beginning of a new path.
