She began by melting fine silver and alloying it to create sterling silver, then poured the metal into an ingot. Afterward, she used a rolling mill to flatten the ingot into workable silver sheets. The design was hand-cut through detailed saw piercing, and depth was built through layered construction using multiple sheet components. These layers were carefully joined through soldering, followed by filing and sanding to refine the edges and ensure a clean finish. Once the structure was complete, she applied surface finishing techniques, including antiquing and patina, to enhance texture and contrast. For the stone setting, she fabricated the bezels and soldered them into place, then securely set the stones and finished the settings through burnishing to achieve a smooth, polished edge around the bezels.

Hedieh Ahmari is a North Vancouver-based jewellery artist specializing in handcrafted pieces created from precious metals and carefully selected gemstones. Through jewellery, she seeks to create pieces that hold tension and balance simultaneously, offering the wearer a quiet sense of steadiness amid life's unpredictability.

Originally earning a BFA in photography in New Zealand, Martz brings a photographer's eye to her metalsmithing practice. Attention to composition, contrast, negative space, and light informs each design. After relocating to Alaska, she began taking metalsmithing classes in Fairbanks, where she discovered her true creative medium. Over the past 20 years, she has continued to refine her craft, largely self-taught, developing a distinctive style grounded in exploration and intuition.

Martz is drawn to the inherent dialogue between metal and stone. Sterling silver provides structure and strength, while distinctive stones introduce colour, texture, and organic unpredictability. The first step was to transfer her design onto the silver and engrave it. After the hand engraving was finished the outline was hand sawn around the circumference, then filed to take off any burrs or sharp edges. She marked and then drilled all her holes for the hooks and moving pieces. She also hand made the shepherd hooks to accommodate the movement of the earrings. Each of the dangling pistels were hand cut and then torched to form the little balls on the ends. Each connection was then formed to fit into the drilled holes to ensure movement while wearing them. Finally, before assembly the pieces were tumbled with a special medium to give them a perfect shine. The final step in making these earrings was to assemble them and ensure that the pistels moved well with the rest of the earring.

Trish Paulson is a Metis woman and mostly self-taught multi-media artist residing in the Pacific Northwest of BC. She placed all the sterling-silver components in the tumbler to ensure they were work-hardened and polished to a good shine. As a goldsmith, her work embraces traditional European technique, a devotion to quality, and enduring beauty. With years of experience in vintage fashion, the thread of continuity draws from her understanding of the cycles of fashion, the joy of experimentation, and respect for tradition. Her work ranges from timeless classics to wildly playful and irreverent pieces, often incorporating unexpected materials or movement.

In 2015, Lainey began a two-year apprenticeship under master goldsmith Gerold Mueller at the Vancouver Metal Art School. In 2020, she registered her business and began to focus more on her jewellery, winning Best New Business that year from the Sooke Chamber of Commerce. In 2021, Lainey's work was exhibited at the Sooke Fine Arts Show and won Award of Excellence, Juror's Choice, and People's Choice awards. Lainey has been interviewed on CBC Radio, and has been a featured speaker at events and in videos for RISE Asset Development, a charitable organization which empowers people overcoming mental health and addiction challenges to become entrepreneurs.

Since 2024, Lainey has been lucky enough to pursue her work full time, crafting bespoke engagement rings and wedding sets, and focusing on heirloom redesign.
